This year was the 13th edition of Redbull Rampage held in beautiful Virgin, Utah. Rampage is one of the yearly premier mountain bike freeride events, attracting some of the best riders from around the world. I drove down from Colorado for the third year hoping to capture some of the action on my camera. This year's new location provided new challenges not only for the riders but also for the photographers covering the event. The new site was challenging to get around with lots of steep cliffs, but that’s the exact reason the location was chosen. Many of the runs were not even traversable on foot. So watching these competitors fly down on their bikes was truly a sight to be seen.
It only took six tries for this year’s winner Brett Rheeder to win. He put down a clean run on his first attempt that no one could match. Past winner Andreu Lacondeguy liking the new venue placed second, and hometown favorite Ethan Nell earned third for the second year in a row.
The following are some of my favorite images from three days of photographing Rampage. Enjoy.
